Debthunch Review: Is the Mailer Legitimate?

Did you get a mailer from DebtHunch that looked something like the one below (source) that invited you to see if you could get into a 0% interest, $0 down consolidation program?

Did you get a DebtHunch Mailer?

So, does DebtHunch offer personal loans or is this a marketing play to get you into a debt settlement program where you could face negative credit score impact and potential debt collection lawsuits.

That said, if you were looking for a debt consolidation loan, here’s 2 top debt consolidation loan options that does not affect your credit score to check your rate:

What is DebtHunch?

According to Debthunch’s BBB page, the company has been in business for over 19 years. Though the company only has four reviews, they have a 5 out of 5-star rating. They are BBB Accredited with an A+ business rating. It’s also interesting to note that the Debthunch has zero complaints on their BBB page, despite being open for almost two decades.

Debthunch Reviews

Let’s next cover the BBB reviews, Google reviews, and TrustPilot reviews.

Google reviews

Similar to the BBB, Debthunch’s Google Reviews are pretty high. With 178 reviews, Denthunch has a 4.1 out of 5-star average rating. Though the rating is pretty high, it is interesting to note that some of the more recent reviews are lower, one and two-star reviews. Many of the higher reviews claim that Debethunch helped connect them to great banks and agencies with low APRs. The lower reviews claim that they were sent a letter that advertised one thing that wasn’t honored, or they were harassed with phone calls after looking into the company.

It’s interesting to note that Debthunch is very responsive to the reviews on Google, and, unlike many other companies, they are not afraid to be blunt and even aggressive. They are not afraid to alienate customers that are upset with them or potential clients that may not respond well to their tone in the responses.

BBB reviews

Debthunch’s BBB page is highly rated. As mentioned earlier, they only have 4 total reviews on their page. However, those 4 reviews are incredibly positive. Each of them describes the reviewer having a great experience with Debthunch.

Also, there are no complaints listed on the Debthunch BBB page, which is incredibly uncommon for a company that has been in business for almost two decades.

TrustPilot reviews

And finally, Debthunch also has a spectacular TrustPilot score. With almost 300 reviews, the company has a 4.8 out of 5 star rating. The most recent ratings are all very positive and speak to Debthunch’s knowledgeability and effectiveness. Similar to the Google reviews, Debthunch does respond — rather aggressively — to the negative reviews that are left on their page.

Is Debthunch Legitimate Or A Scam?

Based on what I read, it is unclear whether Debthunch actually offers debt consolidation loans or if it’s just a marketing firm for a debt settlement company. For example, a recent review seems very reminiscent of debt relief/debt settlement.

Google review of DebtHunch
This looks like a debt relief company pitch.

If it’s strictly a marketing play for debt relief, I do not tend to like the technique of sending mailers to individuals who have high balances that can’t get a loan, pitching this type of debt consolidation.

So, I was not able to determine one way or another in my Debthunch review, so please consider doing your own research.
